HMP was founded in 1993,
by the late Abeauty Chibuye, a Christian dedicated to the idea of building an
institution that would restore the dignity of marginalized rural Africans
by helping them attain food security and control
of their own health and lives.

Founder
Abeauty Chibuye was born in 1965 in Serenje District in Central Province
of Zambia and attended school there until grade nine when he was forced
to quit due to financial constraints resulting from the death of his mother.
He then began working at Kangzos Farm and Nkolonga Limited as a storekeeper.
During this time he suffered from loneliness and was deeply affected by
the loss of his mother. He turned to Christ, discovering that life without
Jesus Christ was useless. It was at this time that he became a Christian,
receiving Baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1988 and began serving others as a
church and community leader. Abeauty, together with his colleagues
John Ngalube, Felix Bwalya, Allan Rodgers and the late Joseph Chikote,
founded HMP in October of 1993.

Since 1993 HMP
has become a dynamic establishment, with numerous development projects
constantly being carried out. It has several registered members and volunteers
working together toward a common mission of self-sufficiency and alleviation
of poverty. |
 |
The official
headquarters was established in 1995 in Chibobo, a rural community located
to the northwest of Serenje town center. In the past 9 years the headquarters
has become a major control center that now houses an elementary
and nursery school, orphanage, conference and workshop center, library,
office complex, fundraising activities, and several agricultural fields
and demonstration centers. In addition, HMP manages a town office
in Serenje in order to maintain relations with regional officials, extended
communities and international partners. |
 |
Aside from projects
undertaken at the headquarters, HMP also manages a subordinate
development committee that oversees outreach work and satellite centers
located throughout regions of central Zambia. |
