HMP promotes community-based programmes that link food, health and the environment, and lead to sustainable productivity. Since its inception in 1993, Help Ministries Project has helped thousands of farmers learn the advantages of conservation farming practices. These practices have not only improved the health and livelihoods of rural Africans, but have also made it possible for local communities to look beyond their immediate need for food and begin to address secondary needs, such as education, income generation, enviromental hygiene, clean water, and -- most importantly -- HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
